Permission Issues
Flare needs certain macOS permissions to function properly.
Screen Recording permission
Symptom: Black screen when recording, or "Screen recording not available"
Fix:
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences)
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Select Screen Recording in the left sidebar
- Find Flare in the list
- Toggle it ON
- Restart Flare (required for changes to take effect)
Microphone permission
Symptom: No audio recorded, or microphone options are grayed out
Fix:
- Open System Settings
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Select Microphone
- Toggle Flare ON
- Restart Flare
Camera permission
Symptom: Camera preview is black, or camera toggle doesn't work
Fix:
- Open System Settings
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Select Camera
- Toggle Flare ON
- Restart Flare
Permission denied after granting
If permissions seem to be granted but still don't work:
- Remove Flare from the permission list
- Restart Flare
- Grant the permission again when prompted
- Restart Flare once more
Permissions not appearing
If Flare doesn't appear in the permissions list:
- Make sure you've launched Flare at least once
- Try triggering the permission (e.g., start a recording)
- The permission prompt should appear
- If not, manually add Flare using the + button
